Today’s Live Better With Willie Jolley Tip: Don’t Worry, Be Happy!
Sounds kind of Pollyanna-ish, but I believe that you must decide to be happy. Abraham Lincoln once said, “Most people are about as happy as they choose to be.” Be happy, because you ultimately make the choice.
The word ‘worry’ is an extension of fear. Fear is crippling. It shackles those that are capable of doing great things and keeps them from even attempting what they could possibly achieve. Fear chokes and kills dreams and creativity. The most interesting thing about fear is that it is a learned behavior. Psychologists have stated that we are born with two fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud sounds. All other fears are learned. That is a misuse of the imagination. The imagination was created for us to dream and see positive things that are not yet a reality; and see them as being a possibility.
Many times in life, we use our minds to think of every possible problem that could arise. Our minds are created not to think of problems, but rather to think of solutions to dealing with problems. After thinking of the solutions, our minds are to be used to think about how to make our dreams into realities. Don’t let fear choke you. Look fear in the eye, challenge it, and it will go away. Fear cannot stand action. Go after your dreams. Don’t worry…be happy! Or should I say, be Jolley!
